The payments sector is something of an unsung hero. In the USA and Europe , it's twice the size of the airline industry, reliably delivering revenues and profits to the banks. But after decades of relative stability, regulatory changes and increased volume in electronic payments have disturbed the equilibrium and are triggering major change.
Many bank payments systems are found wanting when it comes to meeting these challenges and banks are struggling to define and implement a payments strategy when the only certainties seem to be increasing change and falling margins.
We saw these changes coming and created Dovetail to address them.
We started building a system that would handle the diversity of payments needed, and break down the existing silos. The underlying platform was first deployed into a major bank in 2002. It has been continually enhanced and is now the core of a truly universal payments platform.
